‘America’s Got Talent’ Las Vegas Live Show to Close This Year

America’s Got Talent Presents Superstars Live, the live show in Las Vegas featuring past AGT stars, will be closing in May of this year. The show, which takes place at the Luxor Theater, ran for two and a half years.

AGT Las Vegas Live Show Closing This Year

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Superstars Live will be closing on May 11. No reason was given for the show’s closure, but Casino.org points out that the Luxor’s ticket website suggests a less-than-stellar turnout for upcoming shows.

“It has been an honor to collaborate with the AGT team to bring the talent from one of television’s most exciting competition shows to the Las Vegas Strip, and we hope to work together again in the future,” MGM Resorts International said in a statement.

Outlets reporting the news point out that Superstars Live had to compete with other AGT stars who had their own headlining shows, including Shin Lim and Terry Fator. Currently, the show features such acts as Kodi Lee, Light Balance, Pack Drumline, and Mervant Vera.

The live show’s closing has not been announced on social media. Interestingly, a recent Instagram post promotes comedian Mike E. Winfield as host of the show through June 3. However, the ticket website only lists dates through May 11.

Recent Winners Never Appeared in the Show

Included in the AGT prize over the past few years was the promise of a headlining spot in the Las Vegas live show. However, the Review-Journal points out that recent winners didn’t take advantage of the opportunity.

Season 17 winners the Mayyas never appeared in Las Vegas, although representatives for the show said they wanted the all-female dance group to perform on the Strip. Season 18’s winning dog act, Adrian Stoica and Hurricane, also never appeared. They were reportedly expected to join the cast for the holiday season.

There were apparently ideas about taping the AGT auditions at the Luxor to help promote the live show, but that never ended up happening.
