Meet Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer Recipient Sara James

On Tuesday night, Simon Cowell hit his America’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer for 13 year old singer, Sara James. Since the honor was given, fans are dying to know what Sara’s past in music looks like. Here’s everything to know about this young singer.

1. Sara Recently Turned 14 Years Old

It’s always important to keep in mind that AGT films in April and airs in June. Sometimes, when AGT says that an act is a certain age, they’ve actually already aged up. At the time of Sara’s AGT audition she was 13 years old, but she actually just turned 14 on June 10.

2. She Loves to Perform for An Audience

Sara is among the America’s Got Talent contestants that have a large following on TikTok. She currently has over 461,000 followers on the video sharing platform. On there, she typically posts singing, dancing, trends, and thirst trap videos. Since she’s famous on the app, she’s an ambassador for L.O.L. Brand, Spotify, Puma, and more.

3. She Won The Voice Kids in Poland

America’s Got Talent isn’t this singer’s first competition series. In her home country, she competed on The Voice Kids in 2021. At 12 years old, Sara caught the attention of the coaches with her rendition of “Anyone” by Demi Lovato. She then went on to sing “Hero” by Mariah Carey, “My Hometown” by Will Ferrell and Molly Sandén, and more. At the end of the competition, she was announced as the winner of the series. Reports state that she also has appeared on the National Film Song Competition

4. She Competed on Junior Eurovision Song Contest

America’s Got Talent also wasn’t the first global competition Sara has competed in. In 2021 she won second place in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Somebody.” In this competition, she shared that she comes from a musical family that lives close to the Poland/Germany border. She learned to play piano at the age of six and she’s been working on her vocal talents at the Słubice Municipal Cultural Center for about four years.

5. She’s Inspired by Female Artists

In an instagram video, Sara explains that the female artists she looks up to are Beyonce, Rihanna, Whitney Houston and more. On top of supporting her favorite artists, she enjoys supporting and empowering women in her private life.

6. She’s Already Released Several Songs

If you look up Sara James on YouTube, you’ll find that she currently has over 39,000 subscribers. There are currently six music videos shared to her page. On Spotify, she has over 418,000 monthly listeners, with eleven released songs.

7. Simon Cowell Connected With Her Story

On AGT, Sara explained that she’s from Poland, and it was her first time in America. She came to the stage to see if America can make her dreams come true. After her amazing rendition of “Lovely” by Billie Eilish, Cowell hit his Golden Buzzer for her.

“I pushed my golden buzzer for Sara because she is, in my opinion, a total star,” Cowell said. “She flew across the world to audition on AGT ‘to see if dreams come true’ — that really resonated with me, as 20 years ago I came to those thoughts as well. I just didn’t have her talent!”

Cowell also acknowledged at both Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum also wanted to hit their Golden Buzzers for this singer.

We can’t wait to see what Sara brings to the live shows this season. The America’s Got Talent live shows begin on August 9.
