America’s Got Talent Season 15 winner Brandon Leake shared on Instagram this week that he recently won a Telly Award for a poem he wrote. He linked to the video of his performance, which was to promote a company called Audacity.
AGT‘s Brandon Leake Wins Telly Award for Poem
Brandon wrote on his Instagram Stories that he won a Telly Award, adding, “Let’s rack up these accomplishments.” He linked to the winning video, which was produced by Unbridled Media.
As Unbridled explained in the post, the video they produced for Audacity won four Telly Awards, including one Gold and four Silvers. According to the website, the Telly Awards “honor excellence in video and television across all screens.”
Brandon is featured in the video for Audacity, reciting a poem about the power of sound. He stands in an empty room, lit by a spotlight. At the start, his voice echoes. He goes on to talk about how “a sound can completely shift the energy within a space.”
As the three-minute clip continues, Brandon talks about how “sound is the very essence of human experience,” showing off the captivating style that won him the AGT grand prize. At the end of the video, Brandon talks about sound as vibrations, asking “Did you hear me, or did you actually feel me?”

What Has Brandon Been Up to Since His Win?
In 2020, Brandon Leake was the first spoken word poet to compete on America’s Got Talent. He went on to win Season 15 with his powerful and personal performances. Since his win, he has continued to release new poems for fans to enjoy.
Much of Brandon’s work relates to his experience as a Black man in the United States. Earlier this year, he released a poem called “Black Jesus.” Before that, he shared an important message in the video for his poem “Black Boy Born Beretta.”
In March, Brandon also released a book of poems called Unraveling. As he wrote of the project, “Some of them are poems that I’m afraid for the world to see, but I know they will be the healing somebody else needs.”
