‘America’s Got Talent’ Shakes Up the Schedule Again, Skipping a Week of Auditions

The schedule for America’s Got Talent Season 17 has been pretty hard to follow, as NBC keeps throwing us for a loop with future programming notes. We now know that next week’s episode is not another round of auditions, but rather a clip show remembering past Golden Buzzers.

America’s Got Talent Skips a Week of Auditions

This season’s schedule has left a lot of mystery for fans, as there seemed to be too many episodes before the live shows kick off in August. At first, we wondered if maybe the Judge Cuts round would be back, taking up several weeks of the season after auditions.

Then AGT released an article earlier this month sharing that there would be 10 weeks of auditions this season. With five Golden Buzzers expected from the judges and host, as well as a group Golden Buzzer, that still only covered six weeks. This left us wondering what the other four weeks of auditions would look like and if some form of Judge Cuts was still possible.

Now it looks like at least one of those extra weeks won’t feature new performances at all. According to NBC’s schedule, the network will air an episode called “Simon’s Favorite Golden Buzzers” next Tuesday, June 5. The episode will still be two hours long.

Live Shows Don’t Start Until August

It’s possible that next week’s clip show is due to the Independence Day holiday on July 4. However, it’s hard for fans to know what to expect from one week to the next.

There was some confusion about the show’s schedule in a recent Reddit thread. One fan saw that next week’s episode was listed as new, so they assumed it would be more auditions. However, someone else pointed out that the schedule actually lists the Golden Buzzers episode for next week.

Live shows are not supposed to kick off until Tuesday, August 9, with a results show airing the next day. That seems like a long time to wait, considering we’re already on the fifth week of auditions. Will the show surprise us with an updated version of Judge Cuts?

Alternatively, can we expect even more clip shows to air in the coming weeks, filling the time before the live shows are set to begin? The show is certainly keeping us on our toes this season.
