‘Got Talent’ Unicyclist Wesley Williams ‘Dodged Death’ in Scary Accident

Last year, unicyclist Wesley Williams became the first person to compete on both America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent at the same time. He recently took his skills to Spain’s Got Talent, earning the Golden Buzzer.

Unfortunately, while he was in Spain to compete on the show, Williams suffered a scary accident and had to be hospitalized. A GoFundMe was created to help Williams with his bills while he recovered from his injuries.

Unicyclist Wesley Williams Injured in Accident in Spain

Williams made it to the Semifinals of BGT Season 14 and the Judge Cuts of AGT Season 15 with his incredible unicycle act. The 23-year-old actually broke a world record on BGT by riding a 22-foot unicycle. The Spain’s Got Talent judges were wowed by his skills earlier this year, and he received the Golden Buzzer.

Williams’ mentor Marcela Murad, the Creative Director of Silly Farm Supplies in Florida, started the GoFundMe for Williams after his accident. She shared that she met Williams when he was just 6 years old and wanted to be a clown, adding that she “took him under my wing and taught him a few things.”

At the time she created the GoFundMe, Williams had been in the hospital for three weeks. Murad shared that she started the fundraiser for Williams “because knowing that his bills will get paid will ease his mind and speed his recovery.” As of this writing, $8,065 of the $10,000 goal has been raised from 92 donations.

Williams Thanks Fans for Their Generosity as He Recovers

In early November, Williams shared an update with fans on the GoFundMe page. He thanked everyone who had donated to the fundraiser, writing, “I am overwhelmed by all the support and love. Nothing can describe how thankful I am for kind souls like you.”

“The prognosis is long, scary, and at times uncertain, but I have to be quite frank, I dodged death,” Williams wrote of his accident, adding photos of his scarred feet. A previous update from Murad noted that Williams had to have screws put in his feet.

Williams thanked his mother for being by his side, calling her “my rock.” He also thanked God, writing, “He was on my side. I was truly lucky in a unlucky situation.” At the time of his update, Williams had been cleared to fly home to the United States, where he planned to “hit the ground running (well maybe not yet) on the rehabilitation process.”

Around the same time as his update, Williams posted on Instagram that his appearance on France’s Got Talent would be airing soon. You can watch his pre-taped performance on YouTube. We’re glad Williams is okay and wish him a speedy recovery.
