‘AGT’ Recap: Season 18 Continues with Shocking Auditions

America’s Got Talent Season 18 returned on Tuesday night for a new episode of auditions. The night featured a few shocking performances, as well as a feel-good Golden Buzzer moment courtesy of judge Simon Cowell.

AGT Season 18 Continues with Shocking Auditions

The judges were stunned by some of the performances featured in Tuesday night’s episode, particularly the Ramadhani Brothers from Tanzania. The duo showed off a balancing act like we’ve never seen before. The panel and audience couldn’t believe it when one brother balanced head-to-head with the other.

To make the act even more daring, the brother underneath walked backwards up a set of stairs, sat down on the floor, and climbed a ladder. The performance earned a standing ovation from all four judges. Howie Mandel called it the “scariest, most dangerous act I have ever seen on America’s Got Talent.” Cowell called it “as close to perfection I’ve seen over the years.”

The episode also closed with an act the judges weren’t expecting. Ray Wold stepped on stage with his 85-year-old mother and performed a danger act that involved setting himself on fire and throwing knives at his own mom. Heidi Klum called it a “hot mess” in a good way, and Cowell said he loved it.

However, Mandel hit his red buzzer during the act and said he didn’t think Ray should throw knives at his mom. For her safety, he voted “no” to sending them through, but the other three judges voted “yes.”

Putri Ariani Earns Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer

This week’s Golden Buzzer moment came halfway through the episode, when 17-year-old Indonesian singer Putri Ariani took the stage. Putri, who is blind, started by singing an original song on the piano. After the performance, Cowell stepped on stage to request that she sing something else.

That’s when Putri launched into a stunning performance of “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” by Elton John. She earned a standing ovation from the panel, with Sofia Vergara calling her an angel. Cowell, meanwhile, decided to hit the Golden Buzzer for the performance, calling Putri “brilliant.”

Other standout performances from Tuesday’s show came from trap choir Sainted, young danger Lambros Garcia, magician Mandy Muden, dance group Avantgardey, and country singer Mitch Rossell.
