Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix is speaking out about her new relationship with her boyfriend Daniel Wai. In a recent interview, Madix responds to friends’ worries that she jumped into things too fast after her split from Tom Sandoval. She maintains she took an appropriate amount of time before opening her heart again.

Madix’s life was upended last March when cheating allegations surfaced about longtime love Sandoval’s affair with costar Raquel Leviss. After nearly a decade together, Madix was forced to abruptly pick up the pieces.

Understandably, some friends questioned if Madix rushing into a new romance was healthy after such recent heartbreak. But she stresses that she moved forward at her own cautious pace, not leaping hastily into anything serious with Wai.

According to Madix, she had known Wai platonically for months before romance developed. They initially met at a wedding, long before her split from Sandoval. Their friendship organically blossomed into more several weeks after she became single.

“I didn’t jump into another relationship,” Madix said. “I met a guy, I was having a good time, I got to know him and things evolved.”

Madix says she took the proper time to process her painful breakup before opening herself up again. When the connection felt right, she followed her heart.

Madix unapologetically insists that she – not friends or fans – gets to dictate her readiness for romance. Though their concern comes from care, she credits her own instincts in taking this next step.

Fully closing the door on her past relationship wasn’t easy while still cohabiting in her and Sandoval’s shared 4,500 square-foot home. Both lacking the funds to immediately move out, they were forced to uncomfortably coexist for nearly a year after splitting.

Madix explains that sky-high Los Angeles rents made relocating quickly impossible on their budgets. Separate wings of the house allowed distance, but living together understandably prolonged her healing process.

According to Madix, Sandoval also lacked the means to purchase her share of the property. With expensive mortgage and rent payments, their situation remained in flux until Madix recently filed suit to force a sale.

While finances prevented an immediate fresh start, Madix emphasizes she mentally moved on long before circumstances allowed her physical separation from Sandoval. Under the constraints, she responsibly waited until ready before embracing new love.
